Your bitcoin tax records, solved on your own computer.
SatoshiSolver is a downloadable app for US bitcoiners. It pulls together your exchange, app and self-custody history, tracks cost basis wallet by wallet, and prepares the reports you or your tax preparer need. Your data never leaves your machine.

What SatoshiSolver does
Import everything
Load the CSV and statement exports from the apps you actually use, plus your self-custody wallets, into one private ledger.
Per-wallet cost basis
Choose HIFO, FIFO or LIFO and track lots separately in each wallet and account, in line with the wallet-by-wallet basis rules that took effect in 2025.
Match your own transfers
Moves between your own wallets are paired and carry their original basis instead of showing up as sales or new purchases.
Reports for filing
Form 8949 and Schedule D summaries, plus exports designed for TurboTax and other tax software, or to hand to your preparer.
Built for the apps bitcoiners use
SatoshiSolver is for US bitcoiners who stack across several apps and hold some of it themselves. Imports in the app:
- Strike
- Gemini
- Fold
- Unchained
- Swan (beta)
- Coinbase (beta)
- River (beta)
- Cash App (beta)
- Other wallets via hand-mapped CSV
Beta means that importer is in the app and has not yet been checked against a real export file. A hand-mapped CSV importer is in the app, where you match your own columns. Don’t see your app? Private by design, not by promise
Your transaction history says a lot about you. That’s why SatoshiSolver is not a hosted service. You download it, run it on your own computer, and your files stay there.
- No account and no sign-in
- No uploading of your transactions, addresses or balances
- Your data lives in a single file on your computer that you control
- This website itself uses no cookies, analytics or trackers
Who it’s for
People who buy bitcoin through apps like Strike, River, Fold or Swan, move it into their own wallets, and want accurate cost basis without handing their full financial history to another company.
It also helps if you want to double-check the numbers on the new Form 1099-DA your exchange sends you.
Free 1099-DA cost-basis checker
Exchanges and brokers now send Form 1099-DA for digital asset sales. On many 2026 forms, cost basis will be missing or shown as $0 for coins bought before 2026 or moved in from another wallet. Our free checker runs entirely in your browser, with no upload, and flags common problems:
- Missing or $0 cost basis on reported sales
- Coins you transferred in from another wallet or exchange
- Short-term vs. long-term holding periods that don’t line up
Preview: an early version is at checker.satoshisolver.com. It reads CSV files and comes with sample data. Exchange file layouts are our best guesses until exchanges publish their 2026 formats, and the full release is planned for January 2027.
Waitlist: the online sign-up isn’t live yet. To be told when the checker and the app launch, email us with the subject “Waitlist”. We’ll only use your address to send launch news, and you can ask to be removed at any time.
